Accounting & Finance Manager | Design Studio A well-established national organisation is looking for an experienced Head of Payroll & Accounts to lead payroll, accounting, and treasury functions from their Brisbane office. This is a pivotal role, offering the chance to refine processes, strengthen compliance, and actively contribute to the ongoing growth and efficiency of the business. Reporting to the CFO and working closely with the National Operations Team, you will take full responsibility for payroll management, ensure all statutory obligations are met, and provide insightful financial guidance to the leadership team. While based in Brisbane, this role requires collaboration with teams across the country to ensure seamless financial operations. Key Responsibilities Administer full payroll for all staff using Xero Payroll Ensure timely and accurate completion of all compliance requirements, including BAS, PAYG, superannuation, and payroll tax Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including debt follow-up and reporting Oversee cash flow management, reporting, and forecasting Support month-end close processes, journal entries, and reconciliations Conduct Balance Sheet and leave reconciliations Maintain vendor relationships and manage corporate debit/credit cards Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy Skills and Experience Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline Minimum of 5 years’ experience handling end-to-end payroll and accounting operations in a medium-sized business Strong working knowledge of Xero, Xero Payroll, Hubdoc, and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Prior experience in professional services or project-based sectors is highly desirable Attributes and Competencies Exceptional organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently Collaborative and positive approach to team and organisational culture Requirements Australian citizen or permanent resident with unrestricted work rights This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled payroll and accounts professional to take ownership of financial operations within a supportive, fast-paced, and growing national company.
